Big Boy

I just put Will down for a nap in his crib and went in to check on him about 10 minutes later and this is what I found. He wasn't fully asleep when I put him in there but he usually falls asleep pretty fast if he's drowsy. I picked him up and he got upset so I wrapped his blanket around him, turned on his mobile, and put him back in there. He seems pretty content so far! He's such a big boy! He also wore his first real outfit (a onesie with a collar) to church today, but he had an accident in it before I could take a picture. It's in the dryer now so I may have to put it back on him later just to take a picture.

Here are a few other things I want to remember about him right now:

• He finally reached 8 pounds this week!
• He is starting to leak out of his Newborn diapers more often and they are getting tighter and tighter. So we're moving up to 1's this week (after we run out of the few Newborns we have left). I thought he would never get out of those things.
• He has become a big time grunter and it is loud! Chris and I will just laugh and laugh at him, but Chris didn't think it was very funny when he started doing it in church today. I guess this is the first time he got kicked out of church (by his daddy). Chris thinks this means he will be a talker.
• He smiles and even laughs in his sleep. I know it could just be gas, but I like to think he is just really happy....and he has the sweetest smile!
• I think he is starting to figure out what is going on in the world. He will stare right at me while I'm holding him and sometimes even make faces when I talk to him. I am trying to enjoy this stage, but I really can't wait until he really recognizes us and smiles and interacts with us. I think that will be so much fun!

First Two Weeks

Wow! These first two weeks have been crazy. Will has already changed so much. Unfortunately, he's still pretty small and can't wear all of the cute clothes we have for him which is a huge disappointment for me! He has five 5-8 lb. onesies that he wears everyday. We bought them in a pack from Target a couple of days after we came home when we realized that he can't wear anything we have for him. I don't want to buy anymore preemie clothes because I feel like he will be out of them soon enough, but at the same time I'm getting tired of seeing the same five onesies! When will he ever be able to wear his 0-3 month clothes??

So much has already happened in these last two weeks that I don't even know where to start. I guess the biggest challenge has been getting Will to eat good. At his first weigh-in after we left the hospital, we found out that he had lost a pound from his birth weight. No one was alarmed since it is normal to lose weight in those first few days, but it seemed that a pound was a little more than expected since he was fairly small to begin with. So we worked with the lactation consultant at the hospital (who is wonderful) and she really helped us. He gained half a pound in 24 hours! We were really excited about that. And as of Monday, he is up to 7 pounds - a few ounces more than his birth weight. So that is all good news, but I'm still a little paranoid sometimes about him getting enough to eat. Which leads me to the next thing...

He only wakes up ONCE during the night! How awesome is that? It has been this way for 5 nights in a row now. I know it could change...but we are loving it for now. Well, except for the fact that I'm worried that he should be waking up to eat more often. He will sleep a 4-5 hour stretch at night without eating (obviously). Everyone I've asked has said this is fine, so I'm just trying to enjoy it. Oh, and did I mention that he is also already sleeping in his crib?? Before these last 5 nights, we had two really bad nights and on the second night, we ended up putting him in his crib to sleep. So we've already kicked him out of our room! I can't believe it...but he seems to like the crib so much better anyway. And we have the Angelcare monitor that I talked about in another blog that keeps us from worrying about him. An alarm will go off it doesn't sense him breathing....we've only had one false alarm and I think that was only because he had moved off of where the pad is under the mattress.

Sorry I have not written anything in awhile. Maybe things will settle down a little this week, so that I can write more.

Will made it home!

I thought he looked so cute in his carseat for his first ride in his coming home outfit. He loved the car ride!

He's here!

Will arrived on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 7:23 am. He was 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. He is perfect and we are so in love with him. I'll write more later and of course, have more pictures. Here is one of our new little family for now.

Eviction Notice

Your mother is issuing a notice for EVICTION. Tenant will have 2 more weeks in which you can either gather all belongings and promptly vacate the premises, or wait until the final day. After which, you will be physically removed from the property.

You are being evicted due to breech of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the FRONT of the house, within reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back of the house were also made!

Remodeling and gutting of the home was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. And due to property damage, there are now leaks in both the upper AND lower levels of the home. On top of which, the landlord has received numerous complaints about nightly disturbances.

Failure to comply with the notice will result in immediate and forceful removal at mommy's discretion.

37 Weeks

I just remembered that I forgot to put up my 37 week picture on Sunday. I've been trying to post one every couple of weeks. My belly is huge!
